January is Warrior month at Shaw's School of Karate and has a specific theme and
challenge to start off the new year. This years theme was flexibility with a challenge of achieving a full split. The stretch
goal was to do it between two chairs! How did it turn out???? Here are some shots.

30th Annual Durham Karate Open Championship |
The Durham Karate Open Championship was held
Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Northern High School, Durham, NC. Sensei Shaw is very proud of the students who competed for
having what it takes to get out there in front of the judges and crowd. Everyone did VERY well. If you would like photos,

The tournament, organized by Mr. Harper for Saturday, March 31 was a great
success. Everyone had fun and learned more about competing. A lot of people donated their time and lent their support to make
the day a lot of fun.

During February, 2007, some of the students and parents at the school joined
together along with Mr. Shaw to build a raised floor for the dojo. Here are some pictures of the work. Click on the picture

At the end of Warrior Month, January, 2007, the kids' blue/green class challenged
the upper belt class to a pushup competition. It was a draw. As a result, the kids got a "fun day" the next class. Here are
